    First impressions

Situated at the very tip of the Balti Triangle, this restaurant is housed in an old church lovingly refurbished into a quite spectacular restaurant. In a fading light I swept up to the imposing front although I later found out that I had mistakingly parked in the VIP area..perhaps that was why I was welcomed with such a flourish!

There were three of us and we shared two starters … a Lamb Chops Tikka and a Chicken Tikka topped with cheese. The latter was extremely tender and tasty but the former, whilst nicely spiced, was rather thin in the meat department.

Our three mains included Haleem (my choice) which is basically shredded lamb, with wheat, chillies and various other ingredients. It was quite hot and with its paste like consistency was a bit of an acquired taste. We also had a Chicken and Ginger dish which was excellent although the Lamb Karahi was ‘desi’ style on the bone and as a western wimp with dodgy teeth, I prefer a bone free zone. We shared some rice and an excellent Potato Naan … my first ever.

Desserts of Fig and Honey and Coconut ice creams were hardly ‘authentic’ but delicious nethertheless. Overall a decent meal in spectacular surroundings.
